It is typically made by macerating a mix of herbs, spices, barks, roots and flowers in either a neutral spirit, or a wine. As such, the range of flavors offered by different amari is vast. Some are very sweet, made with citrus peels or honey. Others are medicinal, made with alpine herbs.
