The brunt of the storm system moves in throughout the day on tuesday. With that were expecting some heavy rain. In advance of that precipitation on the way today weve got cold temperatures outside. Air temperatures are in the 30s. When you factor in the wind chill feels like 25 in philadelphia, 21 poconos and current wind chill in Sea Isle City 26. Satellite 6 and action radar showing we have clear to partly cloudy sky overhead tonight and the temperatures will cool down quickly across much of the delaware and lehigh valleys. Firefighters are still trying to extinguish what they call a stubborn fire thats burning through an abandoned Apartment Building near arrott and horrocks streets. Jesse garys been on the scene for more than an hour. Are firefighters making any progress . Reporter yeah, chris, let me move out of the way and you can see the flames thats engulfed most of the roof. Now its just on the back, far left quadrant or corner of the roof. That right there just erupted right as you were reading the toss to me, chris. So, for the most part, the flames burning on the roof are out except for that one Little Corner right there that is still burning. And of course, a lot of smoke with it. The Deputy Commissioner on scene says the situation was so dangerous earlier, they took a defensive posture after an initial check just inside the front door. Firefighters set
Ocean little bit beyond. That will thats going to be getting rougher and rougher, in fact, there is a coastal flood advisory, in effect, along the shore areas this morning. And then coastal flood watch for tomorrow. Our storm scan3, notice, the clouds moving in, also, notice no precipitation, at this point. That comes tonight. And overnight. Our temperatures are in the 20s, they feel more like theyre in the teens, however, with the winds. Lets time this out. Arrott street. Two hours later, crews had the flames under control. But the roof partially collapsed. So, a possibility of further collapse, firefighters work outside of a collapsed zone, dousing several flames with water. What makes it so stubborn, when the roof collapses, material that makes a roof somewhat waterproof, prevents water from getting out. Eight people from neighboring home had to be evacuated as a precaution, and they are becoming all too familiar with fire, officials tell us, there was another fire here at the vacant building just one week ago. It appears that it is somewhat suspicious, given that no one lives there, and no utilities. Some older guy that usually swats in, there i think he was in there, and ive seen him come out, get Water Bottles to drink.
