Gordon, 48, was arraigned on murder and felony firearm charges and being an habitual offender in the shooting death April 26 of Daniel Murray, 62, of Battle Creek.

A Friday preliminary examination for Tyler W. Grosser, 20, was adjourned after his attorney asked that Grosser undergo an evaluation for mental competency and criminal responsibility. It appears that there have been mental health issues in the past and we would like to have that situation explored or looked into by a forensic examiner, attorney Donald Hammond of the Calhoun County Public Defender s Office said Friday.
Grosser will go to at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Saline, which may take several weeks to schedule and complete an evaluation and prepare a report for District Judge Paul Beardslee.
