A Grand Rapids man shot earlier this week in Howell Township by a Michigan State Police trooper has been charged.
20-year-old Tristan Stavedahl was shot early Tuesday morning on Milett Road, north of North Burkhart Road by a Detective Trooper with the Livingston and Washtenaw Narcotics Enforcement Team (LAWNET) who was in the area searching for a car theft suspect. State Police say that Stavedahl was armed when he encountered the trooper, who opened fire. Officials have not said if Stavedahl fired on the trooper first, or what actions he took prior to being shot. A press release issued after the incident only said that Stavedahl was armed and shot after a brief encounter. MSP Public Information Officer Lt. Brian Oleksyk said he had no other information to provide when asked for details by WHMI this morning.

A Brighton Township man has been bound over for trial on attempted murder charges after authorities say he tried to electrocute his wife and poison his kids.
35-year old Bradley James Crainer was arrested last September after the Livingston County Sheriffâs Office determined that he had opened a natural gas line inside his vacant home in a failed attempt to destroy it. The investigation further revealed that he placed what was called an âinjurious substanceâ into a family memberâs meal that caused that person to become temporarily ill. That substance was revealed to be Benadryl he allegedly mixed into a smoothie for his wife and children, and later a glass of wine he urged his wife to drink.

A Dearborn-man will go to trial on charges related to the sexual assault of Brighton-area girls.
21-year-old Quentin Bogya of Dearborn was in 53rd District Court in Howell last week for a preliminary exam. He was arraigned last October on five charges stemming from an incident that took place on August 22nd of last year. One charge was for 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct of a person ages 13-15, three charges were for 4th degree criminal sexual conduct using force or coercion, and one charge was for assault with intent of sexual penetration. Following testimony from one of the alleged victims, District Court Judge Daniel Bain upgraded the 3rd degree charge to a 1st degree charge. He then dismissed one charge each of CSC 3rd and 4th degree using force or coercion.
