Dr Katherine Lindley Dodson was shot and killed on Tuesday in Austin, Texas
Another doctor, Bharat Narumanchi, took five people hostage inside the clinic
He was terminally ill and had been turned down by the clinic for a voluntary job
He had not met Dodson before Tuesday s siege, according to local media
Narumanchi had most recently practiced medicine in California
He is believed to have had family in the Austin area, according to reports
On Wednesday night a vigil was held for Dodson and her patients paid tribute
Dr. Bhurat Narumanchi, 43, killed Dr. Katherine Lindley Dodson, 43, on Tuesday
He had terminal cancer and had recently been given weeks to live
He took several hostages at the Children s Medical Group, including Dodson
The rest were spared but he killed Dodson and then shot himself
Now, his parents have extended their condolences to Dodson s family
They say they do not understand why it happened and are working with police
Dodson is survived by her husband Drew and their three young kids
