I mentioned to the Mayor that I've noticed an increased police presence downtown and we spoke about the city's plans for the Police Department. This is a portion of our discussion below.
We wanted to see if Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito could provide some information, we have yet to hear. We spoke to the Mayor on the Thursday (4/13/23) edition of the I-95 Morning Show and learned he was one of the first officials on the scene, saying:
On Tuesday (4/4/23), Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito shared the broad strokes of his budget proposal in an official press release. The proposal featured a significant mill rate reduction. We asked the Mayor to share a bit more with us on the I-95 Morning Show. Esposito was our guest on Friday (4/7/23).
More details are coming out now about Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito’s proposed budget… and the add up to some pretty hefty savings for Danbury property owners, who would see a 17 percent drop in the tax rate next year. The school system would also benefit by receiving the $150 million that was requested. The money is available due to a recent hike in Danbury’s tax base after the revaluation of 2022. The $295 million spending plan is being proposed for the next fiscal year that begins July 1st. It must be adopted by May 15.
