The low occurrence, officials say, is thanks to COVID-19 mitigation efforts, such as social distancing and mask wearing, and high vaccination rates.  In years past, we ve always put out information about getting a flu shot being the best way to protect yourself and those around you, said Jonathan Modie, an OHA spokesperson. Frequency of detection and concentration in 14% of monitoring sites were largely unchanged, and about 17% of watersheds showed increases in those water quality measurements.

The City of Eugene has temporarily allowed “urban camping” to avoid dispersing campers during the COVID-19 pandemic. On Dec. 2, the city of Eugene removed about 100 people living in tents on a strip of land beside the Interstate 105 bridge on the border of the Whiteaker neighborhood and discarded all belongings that remained.  The process of removing the camp and dispersing campers was not new. While the city’s usual enforcement of illegal camping was temporarily suspended late last March per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID-19 guidelines, by June 5, regular enforcement had returned.
