(April 27, 2021) The Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC) is hosting a virtual discussion of trends and patterns in drug overdose deaths that occurred in 2020. The Kentucky Overdose Data 2 Action (OD2A) Community Summit is set for this Thursday, April 29, and has a special emphasis on the types of drugs involved in overdose deaths and the age groups that experienced the greatest increase in deaths. “The past year, 2020, has posed a unique challenge for drug overdose prevention in Kentucky and across the country,” said Meghan Steel, one of the presenters and an epidemiologist for KIPRC. “It’s important for us to quantify and classify these changes so that we will be prepared for future challenges when they arise.”
