The filing period for school boards in Arkansas closed at noon Monday, and no races have developed in Baxter or Marion counties, and only one board will see any change in membership.Darin Hughes will take the Position 3 spot on the Norfork School Board after filing for the position formerly held by Josh Davis, who did not file for reelection.
At Mountain Home, Lisa House (Position 1) and Dan Smakal (Position 3) will retain their slots after drawing no opposition. Cotter’s Donald Marler (Position 4) is also unopposed and will retain his seat for another five years.
No races will occur in Marion County, as Flippin School Board incumbents Curt Bryant (Position 3) and Shane Nix (Position 5) drew no opponents. Incumbent Robin Lee (Position 5) filed to retain her seat on the Yellville-Summit School Board.

Seats on the Mountain Home board are for four years, while seats on the Cotter and Norfork boards are five-year terms.
Potential school board candidates need to collect a minimum of 20 verifiable signatures on their petitions, according to Reese.
