Individuals will now be required to wear a mask inside most indoor public spaces in Prairie Village, following the city council's adoption of a mask mandate Monday night. Businesses could also require customers to show proof of vaccination.

Prairie Village will look into decriminalizing marijuana, following nearby Kansas City, Missouri, which removed marijuana possession from it s city code last year.
A city councilmember said Prairie Village is in a “unique and necessary position to address marijuana decriminalization, with medical marijuana legal in Missouri.
Prairie Village may join the growing list of communities that have decriminalized marijuana.
At Monday’s meeting, councilmembers Inga Selders and Ian Graves outlined several reasons why decriminalization should be considered including the disproportionate enforcement on low-income individuals and people of color, as well as Prairie Village’s proximity to Kansas City, where decriminalization is already in place.
