From the National Hurricane center sandy has intensified a little, still a category one but the maximum winds are 85 miles an hour. The wind is huge. The Tropical Storm force winds between 39 and 73 miles an hour, extend out more and 500 miles from the center of the storm. So they are feeling that along the coastal areas already. The storm is 400 miles away from d. C. It will impact us all day. We will be going downhill. Anything you still have to do to prepare for the storm, that needs to be done no
Dealing with the troubling road conditions. She joins us live in Loudoun County. What did parents have to say snoo auto well autria some mixed reaction about whats happening with the schools here but certainly some say they understand why because of what theyre seeing on the roads. Take a look here. You can see this is a sheet of ice. And very slick walking on it. I have to tell you within the last hour, here in this neighborhood, we have seen some changes. This was all covered with a sheet of ice as well and now with the direct sunlight shining down on it we can finally see some pavement. We live out in western Loudoun County, out by middleburg and the roads are sheer ice. You can see it on these roads. That sheen from the ice and snow combination smothered across neighborhood and side streets in Loudoun County. Days after the snow that wreaked havoc on commutes. Doesnt look like theyve ting or sanding to them at all. But yeah it was a little rough getting out of there. The main roads
The rest of southern Montgomery County western fairfax down to 33. Much of fairfax mid 30s. Upper 30s in washington. So well have two types of a commute today with wet pavement this morning. A possibility patchy ice then dry pavement during the afternoon. Well be hovering near 30 degrees with a blustery wind dry drying out our road with a partlypart sunny sky. How are the roads . Right now overall looking pretty good. I want to start with hiensville here. Route 1 blocked in each direction. Only one lane blocked if each direction between van buren and albion road.
