Outdoor dining will be allowed at all commercial premises in Co. Meath this summer.
Meath County Council says planning permission is not required for the vast majority of businesses to place street furniture outside their premises over the coming months.
However, a license must be granted by the local authority.
The council has so far received 120 applications for such licenses, which it says are being processed as quickly as possible.
All fees associated with the licensing process are to be waived for the remainder of the year.
Financial supports are also available to help tourism and hospitality businesses to develop and increase their own outdoor seating capacity.
