Helen McCrory has passed away aged 52
Helen McCrory, known for starring in Peaky Blinders and the James Bond film Skyfall, has died aged 52.
In a statement confirming her death, her husband Damian Lewis wrote: I m heartbroken to announce that after a heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family.
He added: She died as she lived. Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air, and thank you.
The actor labelled his Peaky Blinders co-star as a “beautiful, caring, funny compassionate human being”.
McCrory’s husband Damian Lewis revealed on Twitter on Friday she had died at home following a “heroic battle” with cancer.
In a statement to the PA news agency, Murphy, who plays Tommy Shelby in the crime drama, said: “I am broken-hearted to lose such a dear friend.
“Helen was a beautiful, caring, funny, compassionate human being.

“She was also a gifted actor – fearless and magnificent. She elevated and made humane every scene, every character she played.
Sam Neill, who also starred in Peaky Blinders, tweeted: “Goodbye. Devastated my friend #HelenMcCrory died today. That brilliant woman – the greatest of actors.
“I so loved our time on #PeakyBlinders. She was witty, kind, skilled. Riotously funny.. and so damn cool. So young. Heartbroken for Damien + her family.”
The official Twitter account for Peaky Blinders also shared a tribute to the actress.
Alongside a picture of McCrory as Aunt Polly, a message said: “All our love and thoughts are with Helen’s family. Rest in peace.”
Actor Michael Sheen, who worked with McCrory on ITV drama Quiz, also praised her in a post on social media.
