A new bill signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Oct. 13 authorizes the installation of speed safety camera systems in Los Angeles. Assembly Bill 645 was first introduced to the Assembly in February to permit the establishment of the speed safety system pilot program.
The cameras are programmed to automatically issue citations to drivers exceeding the posted speed limit by 11 miles per hour, offering a warning for the first violation and a $50 fine for a subsequent offense.
