Of chicago and the south side cultural sent, thank you for having us. [ applause ] thanks for joining us tonight, happy friday. Nice to have you with us. Look at this awesome picture from 1968. I love every single thing about this picture. This is the Central Middle School band from orville, california. This is the majorettes part of the band and they are marching through downtown orville, california, on may 1, 1968. This picture is perfec and this picture the property of the California Department of Water Resources. The reason the California Department of Water Resources had a photographer on site taking pictures that day of the majorettes in orville is because that day the governor of california and his wife came too orville, california, to tour a really big awesome new piece of Water Structure the california
governor at the time was Ronald Reagan. He and his wife nancy went to orville for the dedication of the brand new orville dam. It looks kind of fun. They got to go inside the da

are saying just today it is still in its early phases. it has started nevertheless where ukrainian forces, small new units are probing different parts of this vast front line. they re trying to find different weaknesses, so what the destruction of the dam means is that a major potential crossing point has effectively been taken off the table. it means ukrainian forces couldn t cross along the dam itself, and it also means that they couldn t mount some kind of amphibious assault involving boats, involving troops making their way across, trying to form some kind of temporary crossing to eventually push forward. that would be the most ambitious attempt i think in military circles, it was seen as one of the least likely paths for a counteroffensive but for kyiv, it s about making russia guess, and i think what we ve seen from invading forces is an effective counterpunch. after months of ukraine and the west talking up this counteroffensive,
their thesis which this looks like it was an explosion internally from inside the dam itself, which if that s true certainly implicates the russian occupying forces, as they ve been in control of the dam for well over a year. and it s true kyiv and moscow have been trading accusations. one thing that struck me early on, jonathan, within hours of this happening around 2:30, 2:50 a.m. yesterday was the almost uniform nature of western statesmens and politicians condemnation pointing the finger at russia. you can jen stoltenberg, the secretary-general, and also castigating russia for being responsible for this atrocity. and even olaf scholz, the
operation. it has passed off without complications. the surgery was completed, it took place without complications, and lasted three hours. so the briefest of statements from the vatican, that hernia operation, we know the pope will be hospitalised for the next couple of days for recovery but the critical line and that was that it took three hours but there were no complications and surgery has been completed. so that news just coming to us from the vatican. now, let s return to the situation in ukraine, because of course we will be looking at the environmental damage. but of course there is so much scrutiny on the dam itself, how it was breached. we just heard a few moments ago from rishi sunak that it fit the pattern in terms of aggression from russia. but let s look at more detail. what we know about that breach of the dam, we have our colleague there in the verified hub with more than
