Delta variant is said to be more transmissible than previous strains

The Progress-Index According to the Virginia Department of Health dashboard, three Delta variants have been recorded in the Crater Region, as of today. As the more transmissible virus continues to spread across the nation, the region’s health district implores its residents to get vaccinated.  The University of Virginia Biocomplexity Institutes, which produces a weekly COVID-19 model report, noted how the Crater Region is on an “In Surge” trajectory, or currently experiencing sustained rapid and significant growth of 2.5 cases per 100,00 or higher.  UVA predicts the Delta variant will grow more dominant as the time comes, according to the report, with unvaccinated individuals and communities with low vaccination rates.

(WWBT) - Virginia State University announced that it will use mobile units to take COVID-19 vaccines out into underserved communities. The newly created VSU Public Health Institute aims “to provide local, regional, and global outreach through strategic partnerships and collaborations.” So far, the mass vaccination site at the VSU Multi-Purpose Center has provided nearly 40,000 vaccinations to Virginians. “The mission of VSU aligns with the mission of area Health Districts,” says Mr. Hubert Harris, VSU Chief of Staff. “We are all committed to getting the community vaccinated to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including vaccinating the underserved population.”
