Man charged with attempted murder of Covington County deputy

Covington County authorities say a man rammed his vehicle into a deputy s car Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020.

Dalton Grier, of Crenshaw County, is being held in the Covington County Jail without bond.
Sheriff Blake Turman said the incident happened about 11 p.m. Wednesday. A deputy was driving home after finishing his shift.
According to Turman, Grier was parked on the roadside as if to enter the road. He then followed the deputy, getting “extremely close,” until the deputy flashed his emergency lights. Then after the deputy turned onto U.S. 29, Turman said, Grier accelerated and struck the rear of the deputy’s patrol car and continued to strike it, forcing the deputy off the road.

COVINGTON COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - A man is facing attempted murder charges after an incident with a Covington County Deputy.
Dalton Grier is charged with attempted murder.
According to a statement from the Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman, a deputy was on his way home Wednesday night when he saw Grier parked on the side of the road as if he were entering the roadway.
