The Lindsay Muskies and Trenton Golden Hawks were in the holiday spirit heading into their final game of the 2020 calendar year Friday afternoon.
With the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens as the backdrop, the Muskies and G-Hawks met in the second of a two game mini series called The Fish Bowl – presented by Fast and Fussy Sandra Hussy of Exit Realty. The game was broadcast on YourTV (Cogeco 4/700) and HockeyTV.
Before the game, the Golden Hawks held a ceremonial puck drop to celebrate local businessman Taylor Russett. The 21-year-old is the owner of the Grind and Vine coffee and wine bar in downtown Trenton. He was the victim of hateful slurs directed towards him, along with vandalism and arson to his building. Russet, along with Mayor Jim Harrison, and G-Hawks Director of Operations John McDonald dropped the puck. Both teams graciously welcomed Russett to the ice.

The Trenton Golden Hawks and Lindsay Muskies are just a few hours away from heading home for Christmas, however they were all business in the first game of a two-game mini series dubbed The Fish Bowl (presented by Fast and Fussy – Sandra Hussey).
Both teams had no trouble finding the back of the net in the first 20 minutes. The G-Hawks would strike first. Stefan Dobrich came out from behind the net and fired it behind Belleville native Ethan Fraser. Phil Caron, the newest member of the G-Hawks, assisted on the goal at 3:53.
It would not take Lindsay long to tie it up. Jakob Morier received a pass from Stavros Rigas and ripped it off the blocker side post behind Joe Ranger. It was Lindsay’s third shot of the game. Lindsay would strike again on the power play. Mathieu Lapierre would pick up the rebound and put it past Ranger, with assists going to Rigas and Logan Maunder at 14:16.
