Woman assaulted as man tried to steal dog in Dumbarton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted by a man who tried to steal her dog.
The 31-year-old woman was walking her pet at around 11.20am on Sunday, March 7 on the cycle path near Woodyard Road, opposite the flats at Westbridgend, when she was approached from behind by a man.

The victim had been walking along the canal route close to Woodyard Road in Dumbarton before she was assaulted by a man. Police understand the culprit made off in the direction of Dalreoch Train Station. The suspect is described as being 6ft tall, with dark brown shaved hair, wearing black trainers, dark joggers, an orange Superdry jacket and a baseball cap. Constable Richy Ferguson at Clydebank CID said: “Thankfully the woman was not injured during this incident, but it was nonetheless a very distressing experience.
