The Dallas County Technical Center will host its first annual scholarship benefit car show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 13, 2024, at Buffalo Prarie Middle School. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and judging will be at 2 p.m.
President DeEtta Gatton convened the February Dallas County Habitat for Humanity board meeting, following a cancellation of the January session due to inclement weather. Chris Gatton commenced with a prayer, setting the tone for the productive gathering. Board Treasurer Stephanie Collins presented the financial report, spotlighting the generous contributions from various donors backing the ongoing home building project on Stanley Street. Noteworthy donations included a very generous personal contribution from Mr. G.T. Carr of Durham Corporation, along with substantial support from O’Bannon Bank and Old Missouri Bank. Main Street Realty s presentation of the Ozark Board of Realtors hefty donation in December also received grateful recognition. The first construction committee report, delivered by Doug Arendt, highlighted the remarkable progress of Dallas County Technical Center students under instructor Tim Phillips guidance at the Stanley Street site. Riley Ankrom has a passion for law enforcement. Dallas County Technical Center (DCTC) has landed an experienced and eager teacher for the criminal justice classes. Ankrom is a trained police officer with a genuine interest in teaching students the basics of the criminal justice system.
A new grateful family joined the Buffalo community this week. On Friday, Sept. 22, a mortgage closing was held at Hogan Land and Title. Shortly after, Tim, Abby, and Josie Alderman were ushered across the threshold of their new Habitat home at 670 W. McKown Street by Stephanie Collins, Habitat Treasurer.
Missouri State Senator Sandy Crawford, Dallas County Commissioner John Crawford, Northern Commissioner Roger Bradley and Southern Commissioner Mike Lewis presented the winners prizes in order of their placement. First place was won by Dorothy Loges, the graphic arts instructor at the Dallas County Technical Center. Second and third places were won by Tiffany Barker who placed in two winning slots. A fourth place was created after an element of Kylie Fletcher s design was added to Loges s original design. The prizes included cash and gift certificates to either MFA Oil or Market 116. Both businesses were chosen for gift certificates for their work in improving and promoting Dallas County.
