Violent Crime Jumped in Two Counties That Stopped Cooperating With ICE, Report Finds
Two North Carolina counties that canceled cooperation agreements with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) subsequently experienced an upsurge in violent crime, according to a new report.
The report, by the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI), comes as left-wing lawmakers, led by Rep. Ritchie Torres, a New York Democrat, call for slashing funding for the so-called 287(g) program, which creates a framework for cooperation between local law enforcement officials and federal immigration authorities. Founded in 1986, IRLI is a public interest law firm that describes itself as being “dedicated to achieving responsible immigration policies that serve our national interest.”
Texas Sues Biden for Ignoring COVID-19 Rules at the Southern Border
Texas has filed a fresh federal lawsuit against President Joe Biden arguing his policies violate federal law and are causing an influx of illegal aliens infected with the CCP virus that causes COVID-19, which jeopardizes public health and the burgeoning economic recovery.
The new legal proceeding, the seventh filed by Texas against the Biden administration since the president’s inauguration, seeks a return to Trump-era border policies.
“President Biden’s outright disregard of the public health crisis in Texas by welcoming and encouraging mass gatherings of illegal aliens is hypocritical and dangerous,” Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, said in a statement.

Colorado lawmakers recently passed a bill that would provide state housing assistance to illegal aliens. That bill is headed for Gov. Jared Polis’s desk for his signature Wednesday.
If Polis signs the bill into law, it will eliminate the requirement for people to show paperwork to confirm they are legally in the U.S. to sign up for state housing assistance.
The bill, HB21-1054, would be the first law of its kind in the country, according to state officials, as reported by
Denver Post reporter Alex Burness.
