At a Memorial Service last night, blands mother told the crowd her daughter went to texas because she thought shed found her calling. She wanted to try to stop all social injustice in the south. Were seen roming the neighborhood in what some describe as a threatening manner. Raj and jessica, police here say they patrol this neighborhood during shift change. This morning, that officer shot the dog. I woke up to the sound of gunshots. Reporter he just flew down the stairs and my friend opened the door and the dogs just bolted. Reporter blews ener essay both of his pitbulls got out. She tells price she screamed because blue was growling at her. Hechs shot twice, too. A trail of blood leads to his door. He doesnt believe the oneyearold dog deserved to be shot. Its hard for me not to be angry about it. He wonders if police overreacted. The guy at the mint said blue charged him, which he doesnt do. Blue never charges anyone. He is curious. He might have run up to them, but hes in the a mean dog at all. Blue may lose his right rear leg, but is expected to survive. Families. nothing that anyone wouldve seen coming. Alecia but tragedy struck early this morning. Just before 7 o clock police say Scott Bertics walked up to his ex girlfriends holton court home. At the front door, bertics fatally shot 19 year old clare orton, then himself. this is really shockingand sad. Alecia Authorities Say there were no previous issues of domestic violence, or warning flags, and bertics did not have a criminal history. this one is especially painful because the victim and suspect both come from supportive families. Alecia on this quiet cul de sac, neighbors say they did not hear the gunshots ring out. i left this morning around 8 o clock and saw a bunch of police tape and cars alecia both families have been extremely cooperative with police. The communityies are now under a mandatory evacuation order. Theres a lot of homes right where that fire is. Reporter bill peck is watching the flames burn toward his neighborhood. Its unbelievable that you know, it could the fire could spread that fast. Peck evacuated his home. Now all he can do is hope the Fire Fighters can save it. Cal fire says its a challenging fight. Him being gone. A somber day for Hayward Police, and Police Across the country. Good evening, im julie haener. Im frank somerville. The shooting happened 3 15 this morning, when scott lunger pulled over a truck for driving erratically. As Sergeant Lunger got out of the car and approached the drivers side of the vehicle, the driver shot Sergeant Lunger without warning. A second officer in a separate vehicle had also responded and returned fire as the pickup raced away. The second officer used his radio to alert dispatchers. Shots fired shots fired white chevy truck. Hes still going white Chevy Silverado truck, i copy. Set fire, and my partner down. Partner down. Whos down . Sergeant lunger is down.
