The Pentagon has announced that the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier, which was off the coast of Somalia, would be heading back to its homeport, in a move seen as an attempt to reduce tensions in the Arabian Gulf.
It came as Iran’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Es haq Al-e Habib wrote to the UN Security Council warning about the increased US “military adventurism” in the Gulf and the Oman Sea.
