A STONE built former Methodist chapel with the potential for conversion into a ‘fantastic holiday cottage’ has been put up for sale. The chapel, in Timble, in the Washburn Valley, is due to be sold at auction and has a guide price of £110,000. It is close to Fewston and Swinsty reservoirs, between Skipton and Harrogate, and near to England manager, Gareth Southgate s Swinsty Hall. The chapel was built in 1835 on land released from the Forest of Knaresborough for a National Day and Sunday School. The single-storey building inside measures 7.4m by 5.38m (23ft 1in by 17ft 8in) and comprises of a central aisle flanked by a raised platform on one side and a stepped seating area to the other.
The surge in house prices saw the average property in Britain reach a record high of £245,000 in October, as buyers race to complete transactions ahead of the stamp duty holiday on 31 March 2021.
Property prices rose by 5.4 per cent, or £13,000, in the year to October, up from a 4.3 per cent increase in the year to September, new figures from the Office for National Statistics show.
Separate figures published today by NAEA Propertymark said estate agents have seen buyers storm the market, with prospective purchaser numbers rising to the highest level since August 2004 this month.
