Two Peshawar policemen held for killing youth - Newspaper

PESHAWAR: Two police officials were arrested over the mysterious killing of a youngster here early on Monday. A police official told Dawn that Mubashir Ahmad was shot dead on Dalazak Road area near the city railway station apparently by two Rider Squad personnel from the Faqirabad police station. Resident Ziaullah formally complained the police that he along with friends Mubashir Ahmad and Mohammad Haris left their room in the Khyber Super Market area at around 12am to have snacks and tea. He said Mubashir left the car they travelled in on Dalazak Road to relieve himself before returned within a minute or so at around 2am.

26 suspects arrested

26 suspects arrested January 11, 2021 PESHAWAR: Capital city police Saturday claimed to have arrested 25 suspects in different raids conducted across provincial metropolis, the spokesman said. On a public complaint regarding use of narcotics in Smoking (Shehsa) House, SP City Imran Khan directed Faqirabad police for action. The police team led by ASP Dr Mohammad Umer raided a shop on Dalazak Road and booked seven addicts. Phandu Police Station arrested two thieves involved in a robbery and recovered stolen ornaments and Rs50,000 cash from their possession. Meanwhile, Regi police arrested three accused from a van who were carrying unlicensed arms. Police recovered arms including a Kalashnikov, two pistols, one repeater and cartridges from their custody. Sarband police foiled a bid of narcotics smuggling by arresting three alleged smugglers and recovered five kilogram hashish hidden in secret cavities of their van.

AFP/File PESHAWAR: The district administration imposed smart lockdown in nine areas of Peshawar as positivity for Covid-19 swabs swelled to 11 per cent in the capital city of the province. A notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali Asghar on the recommendation of health department prohibited entry and exist of people except those dealing in essential items from 6pm on Thursday to the areas till further order. A health department report said that eight people died of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours including three in Peshawar, two in Kohat and one each in Swabi, Abbottabad and Bannu. The province also reported 384 new cases including 174 from Peshawar. So far, 1,585 persons have fallen prey to the virus while 56,544 patients have recorded from the infectious ailment.
