“Irradiance” featuring the Daisy Jopling Band, Orchestra 914 & students Internationally acclaimed, classical/rock star violinist Daisy Jopling is thrilled to collaborate with Orchestra 914 and Hudson Valley students on a full orchestra mentorship show at the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater called “Irradiance”. This eclectic show will feature local youth choirs singing music derived from the sacred tones of the Great Pyramids of Egypt, as well as a rock classical fusion and hits from the Daisy Jopling band orchestrated by Dean Fransen. The show will feature a beautiful lighting design by Ro-z Edelston, and will be conducted by Dean Fransen and Kathleen Feldman.
Two local non-profits have taken to heart the business maxim “think local, act global.” Peekskill resident Daisy Jopling, a celebrated classical/rock violinist and composer, promotes local and global connections through her Daisy Jopling Music Mentorship Foundation (DJMMF). She, in turn, works closely with Croton-on-Hudson resident Richard Snow, Treasurer of Croton-based African Women’s Education Fund (AWEF). Matt Zebroski is the Drummer of the Alex Skolnick Trio, MD caught up with him recently for an interview.
MD: What inspired you to start playing drums at 12?
MZ: I started out playing clarinet but honestly didn’t have the patience at the time to improve. I wanted to play something that I could make music with right away. Drums were perfect for this and playing them came very naturally to me.
MD: What was your main motivation for enrolling at the New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music in NYC? Tell us about that experience and how it impacted your musical journey.
