Nashville lawyer Daina Bray to receive ABA animal law award Share:

Nashville, Tennessee, lawyer Daina Bray will receive the American Bar Associationâs Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Sectionâs Animal Law Committeeâs Excellence in the Advancement of Animal Law Award during the TIPS/Judicial Division Virtual Section Conference April 27-30. The award recognizes exceptional work by an Animal Law Committee member who, through commitment and leadership, has advanced the humane treatment of animals through the law.

During a section discussion in the famed Harvard course âJusticeâ this fall, Suuba M. Demby â22 remembers her teaching fellow â Thomas B. âTommyâ Raskin â asking, âShouldnât we all be doing as much as we can to help those less fortunate than us?â
What set Raskin apart, though, was that he did not just talk about creating a more just world, he lived his life in pursuit of that goal, Demby said. For that reason, when she learned a few weeks later that Raskin had donated to the anti-poverty organization Oxfam in the names of each of his students, she was not necessarily surprised, but simply âimpressed and taken aback by how authentic he was as a person.â
