The comeback is always greater than the setback.   That comeback has been aided by a program set in motion by Corning Credit Union (CCU) and Elmira Downtown Development (EDD). They created a $25,000 matching gift certificate program for Elmira small businesses through a buy now, shop later initiative. For each customer that bought a gift certificate on the EDD website, CCU made a matching donation to that business, up to $50. “Corning Credit Union is always proud to support our local small businesses and we’re especially excited to announce this program that will directly inject cash into the Elmira-area small business community,” said Gary Grinnell, CCU President and CEO, in a press release.
