Red Flag Warning : High winds fuel concerns about human-caused wildfires Joan Meiners, St. George Spectrum & Daily News © David DeMille/The Spectrum & Daily News Fire and smoke erupted late Sunday over the Veyo Volcano north of Dammeron Valley after a wildfire started along the nearby state Route 18 highway. The blaze headed south and west toward Sand Cove Reservoir. The National Weather Service s Salt Lake City office issued a red flag warning Monday for much of southern Utah, in effect from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. today, April 19. Strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures could contribute to extreme fire behavior, according to the release, which cautioned residents against engaging in any type of outdoor burning at this time.
