About 30 volunteers turned up at the Rhode Island Veterans Home to get some bulbs in the ground this past Saturday. They hope to plant another 10,000 before the ground freezes, and are inching closer to their goal of 1 million total.
This Saturday, Oct. 7, volunteers from North Farm, the Veterans Home, and Mt. Hope High School will join other volunteers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Veterans Home greenhouse to add another 10,000 daffodils to Bristol’s streetscape.
The Daffodil Project in New York City, which began in the weeks after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, has grown into "the world's largest living memorial."
