AqualisBraemar to perform DP approvals for Daehan Shipyard | Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide

AqualisBraemar to perform DP approvals for Daehan Shipyard International offshore and marine engineering consultancy AqualisBraemar has been tasked by Daehan Shipbuilding Co. Ltd, a new leading shipyard for Aframax and Suezmax tankers, to undertake a DP and BLS system FMEA on a shuttle tanker being built by the South Korean shipyard for Greek tanker giant Tsakos Energy Navigation. Under the contract, AqualisBraemar will conduct DP (dynamic positioning) failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), proving trials and provide the ship specific DP operations manual for the DP2 shuttle tanker. The company has not disclosed the value of the contract. To execute the project, AqualisBraemar will support Daehan Shipyard with DP experts from the company’s offices in both South Korea and Singapore.

STX Engine has signed a contract with South Korea’s Daehan Shipbuilding for three MAN 6L23/30H Mk3 gen-sets. The order marks the first sale of the engine’s Mk3 version gen-set which has a power range of 500 to 1800 kW. Each of the Atlas Maritime sets has an output of 1200 kW. The engines are bound for an Aframax crude tanker ordered by Atlas Maritime, the Greek international shipping company, and will achieve Tier 3 emission levels with the aid of SCR. They are provisionally scheduled for delivery in August 2021.

Daehan Shipbuilding wins DNV GL’s AIP for small-size LPG carrier design December 16, 2020, by Jasmina Ovcina DNV GL has awarded an Approval in Principle (AIP) to Daehan Shipbuilding (DHSC) for a new design of small-size LPG carriers in the range of 5,000-7,000 dwt.  Prior to the AIP, DHSC and DNV GL had teamed up in a joint development project (JDP) on small-size LPG carriers using LPG as dual fuel. While DHSC worked to develop new vessel designs, DNV GL reviewed both the basic and detailed designs in accordance with relevant rules and regulations, and provided technical advice and recommendations by their gas carrier experts to help enhance the design development.

The AIP handover ceremony took place recently at the DHSC headquarters in Mokpo. Dae-Seong Jeong, DHSC President & CEO, and Vidar Dolonen, Regional Manager Korea & Japan at DNV GL – Maritime, attended the presentation.
