Senate President Troy Jackson attended an event at the White House on Wednesday to celebrate state efforts to improve access to affordable, high-quality child care as a means of lifting families out of poverty and strengthening local economies.
Maine just implemented a law that partially decriminalizes sex work. While this is a step in the right direction, several in the human rights, legal and commercial sex industries are concerned that it might not be enough to see positive change.
The law will eliminate criminal charges for sex workers who engage in prostitution while continuing to allow those who purchase sex services to be charged.
