Express News Service KASARAGOD: A professor of Kerala Agricultural University has accused Udma MLA K Kunhiraman and CPM workers of threatening him when he tried to stop bogus voting as presiding officer in a booth at Alakkode village near Bekal. KM Sreekumar of College of Agriculture at Padannakkad said he had to stand up to even collector D Sajith Babu when he advised him to not verify the voters. In a long Facebook post, the professor gave a detailed account of his experience. He said he also filed a complaint with the State Election Commission. Sreekumar was posted as the presiding officer in a booth at Government Lower Primary School at Cherkapara, which he called a party village, where the CPM has a brutal majority .

7 dead, 44 injured in accident in Kerala s Kasaragod ANI | Updated: Jan 03, 2021 18:43 IST Kasaragod (Kerala) [India], January 3 (ANI): At least seven people including two children died and 44 sustained injuries when a bus carrying people from a wedding party overturned and fell on top of a house in Panathur town in Kasaragod on Sunday. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed grief and offered condolences the deaths. A total of 44 people were admitted to hospitals of which 33 people are undergoing treatment at Kanhangad district hospital. Others have been admitted in Mangalore Hospital and Pariyaram Medical College, Kasaragod District collector, D Sajith Babu said. The deceased have been identified as Shreyas (13), Ravi Chandra (40), Jayalakshmi (39), Rajesh (45), Adarsh (14), Sasidhara Poojari (43) and Eshwari (39). All seven deceased are the natives of Karnataka.

The bus, which had around 70 people, fell off the road onto a house around 12.30 p.m. The deceased were identified as Rajesh, 45, of Belnad; Ravichandra, 40; Seshma, 39, of Sullia; Shreyas, 13, of Arthamulla; Sasidhara Pujari, 43, of Bantwal; Sumathi, 50; and Adarsh, 14, of Puthur. Sasidhara Pujari succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Mangaluru. Six bodies have been kept at the Kanhangad district hospital. All the injured have been shifted to hospitals in Mangaluru.

As per the latest report, there were 82 people travelling in the bus. We will take action based on the report submitted by the investigating officer, the Collector told PTI.
