Ceremony moved from Monument Park due to inclement weather
Gardner News
GARDNER Residents and city officials gathered for a Memorial Day service to pay tribute to those who died in service to their country. The ceremony, which had originally been scheduled to take place at Monument Park, was moved to City Hall’s Perry Auditorium due to inclement weather on May 31.
After a presentation of the colors by members of the American Legion Post 129, Mayor Michael Nicholson welcomed those in attendance and thanked them for gathering to remember the local heroes who had made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their nation. He noted that it was somewhat fitting to be holding the ceremony at City Hall, because it had been dedicated to the veterans of World War I when it was originally built in 1940.
