We said we thought that most of Tottenham Hotspur’s January transfer moves were going to be on the margins of the squad, and thus far that’s been pretty accurate. It looks like another Tottenham academy graduate is on his way out the door. According to Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre, 23 year old utility midfielder Anthony Georgiou is currently in negotiations for a full transfer to Cypriot First Division side AEL Limassol.
If the name of that club sounds familiar, it’s because it should be if you’ve been a Spurs fan for more than a few years. Back in 2014, Mauricio Pochettino’s first year with the club, Limassol was a group stage opponent for Spurs in the Europa League. They defeated them 5-1 on aggregate over two legs en route to a Round of 32 loss to Fiorentina that year.

“APOEL announces the end of its cooperation with coach Mick McCarthy,” it reads. We wish Mr McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor good luck.”

Jack Byrne made what could well be his last appearance for the Hoops in their Cup final defeat to Dundalk
Shamrock Rovers playmaker Jack Byrne looks poised to continue his club career at APOEL Nicosia under the man who handed him his Republic of Ireland debut.
Byrne has travelled to Cyprus to hold talks with the club, who are currently managed by Mick McCarthy.
The 24-year-old s contract with the SSE Airticity League champions expired at the end of the season and the Hoops have seen their subsequent efforts to tie Byrne to a new contract rebuffed.
APOEL currently languish in ninth position in the Cypriot First Division, with the league s most successful club turning to McCarthy in November after dismissing Marinos Ozonidis.
