(Cleveland) - Lake County s major health care system will soon become part of University Hosptials. Lake Health has agreed to join UH, becoming the flagship community-based health care provider for Lake County.
The deal has been approved by both the Lake Health and University Hospitals boards, but it is still subject to regulatory approval. Both sides say the move will assure access to advanced health care and services for patients in Lake County now, and in the future.
“Our goal has been, and continues to be, to provide access to the highest quality care for the people of Lake County and surrounding communities, right here at home,” said Cynthia Moore-Hardy, president and CEO of Lake Health. “Joining UH will enable us to enhance existing health care services close to home and continue to improve health outcomes for the community.”

The Lake Health board of trustees and UH s board of directors approved the agreement on Wednesday, Dec. 16. Lake Health said in a news release on Thursday, Dec. 17, that completion of the transaction is subject to regulatory approval, and that the move will assure convenient access to the most advanced health care and services for patients in Lake County and surrounding communities now and in the future.

CLEVELAND One of Greater Cleveland s last independent hospital system s will now join one of the region s Big Three.
University Hospitals announced Thursday it is merging with Lake Health. The move will make Lake Health UH’s Lake County flagship community-based health care provider, according to a joint press release.
UH CEO Thomas F. Zenty III gave the following statement: We look forward to enhancing services and programs for residents in and around Lake County, improving access to specialized care, and to extending Lake Health’s long-standing tradition of providing patient-focused health care close to home. The benefits gained through becoming part of UH will lead to greater value and lower costs of care for Lake Health’s patients.
The Lake Health Board of Trustees and University Hospitals Board of Directors approved the agreement Dec. 16.
Completion of the transaction is subject to regulatory approval.
