good morning, this is al jazeera america, live from new york city. i m stephanie sy. the head of the epa says the agency is working non-stop to clean up a major toxic spill in colorado. today they will visit sites along the rivers, and the agency is set to release testing samples. mccarthy says the epa takes full responsibility. it is a tajjic and unfortunate accident and epa is taking responsibility to make sure it is marined up. the most important thing is ensuring the health and safety of the residents and visitors near the river. the spill is still flowing at a rate of 500 to 700 gallons a minute. the rivers snake west through the four-corners region into utah where they empty into the colorado river. the spill is expected to reach lake powell today. the colorado river system is considered the life blood of the west. it is one of the few major rivers in the region, stretching 1400 miles from the rockies to the gulf of california. seven states and some 40 million peopl

tell me how you got started as one of the white house photographers for time. diana walker: i started freelancing in the 70s and went to work for a small washington magazine. it was called the washington monthly. the editor told me, we do not have much money to spend on photography. i thought, oh dear. he said we can only pay you $25 for every picture we use but the good news is, i can get you your credentials to shoot on the hill and at the white house. i began to freelance around washington and the business of washington is politics. i started photographing for the monthly and i would photograph a lot of things on set for them. that build up my portfolio. i went to see time and a lot of places. they would give me work or they would not. i went to see time and they gave me work and one of the assets i had in my hand was my credential to go to the white house. time had this problem where they did not have someone over there. annie callahan could call me up and send me

help moments after san antonio detective benjamin marconi was shot. police leased a photo of this man entering a building who they believe may have more information about the shooting. we consider the suspect to be extremely dangerous and a clear threat to law enforcement officers and the public. reporter: police chief william mcmanus says detective marconi pulled over a driver in front of police headquarters just before noon. that s when the suspect parked his vehicle patrol car and approached the driver s side window where marconi was sitting. the suspect allegedly shot marconi twice in the head before running back to his vehicle and driving off through the headquarters south parking lot. the fact that he did what he did to a police officer, a police officer sitting in his car, tells me he is the ultimate coward. reporter: marconi was pronounced dead at the hospital. nobody has a bad word to say surveillance footage captured this black sedan speeding away from th
