Kim Klare is the first woman to become a lieutenant in the police department’s history. When the department hired Klare in 2001, she was the first woman to serve as a police officer. Klare, an Erlanger native, has almost two decades of experience with the department, Erlanger Police Chief Kyle Rader said.

Cynthia “Cindy” Thoennes Cynthia Jean “Cindy” Thoennes was born on April 27, 1957 at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Eugene and Jeannette (Post) White. She grew up in Little Falls, MN where she graduated from Little Falls High School in 1975. Cindy continued her education at Alexandria Technical College studying accounting. She started her career in education at Head Start and worked as a Paraprofessional in the 206 District for over 20 years. Cindy worked at Carlos Elementary School the longest and took great pride in her job helping children. On September 15, 1979, Cindy was united in marriage to Donald “Donnie” Thoennes. The couple made their home in Alexandria and were blessed with two children, Dustin and Samantha.
