Wake eviction prevention program aims to aid both tenants and landlords :: WRAL com

By Amanda Lamb, WRAL reporter Raleigh, N.C. People worried about paying their rent in Wake County have another month to apply for a program that aims to help tenants avoid eviction. Thursday was the deadline for the Wake COVID-19 Eviction Prevention Program, but officials have extended it to Jan. 31. Gov. Roy Cooper has extended the states moratorium on evictions through the end of January, and the new pandemic relief package signed into law last weekend bars eviction proceedings nationwide for the coming month as well. The moratoriums mean landlords must continue to deal with tenants who cannot pay rent, but Wake County s program not only keeps people in their homes, it also puts money in the landlords pockets so they can hold onto their properties.
