1M vaccine milestone reached in Santa Clara Co., hesitancy remains an issue
Santa Clara County officials announced that one million residents have now received at least one dose of vaccine. While the milestone is worth celebrating, officials say vaccine hesitancy remains an issue.
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Santa Clara County officials announced that one million residents have now received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
And while they say this milestone is worth celebrating, there s still hard work to be done since many of those desperate to be vaccinated, already have been and those who are left may take more convincing.
Since the coronavirus started spreading across the globe in late 2019, scientists have been looking for a vaccine. Now that vaccines are proven, it will ultimately be up to each state to determine who will get the vaccine, and when?
Vaccines are administered between noon and 6 p.m., but wristbands are given out starting at 9 a.m. to the first 500 people in line. We all know the pandemic has disproportionately impacted our Latino, our working-class community, said Jessica Paz-Cedillos, executive director of the Mexican Heritage Plaza. There are five zip codes in East San Jose that makeup 31% of the cases that are reported in the county.
