Barge P-305: Death Toll Reaches 61, While 18 Crew Members Still Missing May 23, 2021, 16:44 IST
On the seventh day of its search and rescue operation off the Mumbai coast, the Indian Navy today recovered the remains of 43 more crewmembers of the ill-fated Barge P-305 that went adrift following Cyclone Tauktae on Monday. Subsequently, the death toll has risen to 61 while 18 people are still missing.
INS Beas, INS Kochi, Kolkata, Betwa, Talwar, Teg, P8I maritime surveillance aircraft, Chetak, ALH and Seaking helicopters are involved in the Search and Rescue operations. Indian Navy has managed to save around 177 people that were stuck on a floating barge in the Arabia sea near Mumbai. It was almost 175 km from Mumbai.

Cyclonic storm Tauktae, which was categorised as “extremely severe”, moved north-northwestwards and was centred on Monday morning over the Arabian Sea near the coasts of Mumbai and Gujarat, the India Meteorological Department said.
The weather department said that the cyclonic storm was very likely to reach the Gujarat coast on Monday evening and cross “between Porbandar and Mahuva (Bhavnagar district)” later on the same night around 8.30 pm.
Tauktae Cyclone path: The deep depression in the south Arabian Sea near Lakshadweep transformed into a cyclonic storm, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday. The IMD forecast says the cyclone with transform into a very severe cyclone as it gains momentum in the next three days. A red alert (extremely heavy rainfall of more than 20cm) has been sounded in Kerala's Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod and Union territory of Lakshadweep on Saturday. Orange alert of 11-20cm for very heavy rainfall in seven districts of Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur.
