In Pics: Waterlogged streets, uprooted trees, damaged houses: Aftermath of Cyclone Yaas - The cyclone 'Yaas' made landfall in Odisha on Wednesday morning and has raged over West Bengal and Jharkhand over the last few days.
As predicted, extremely heavy rains have lashed many parts of Bihar and West Bengal during the past 24 hours. The remnant of cyclone Yaas, a depression over Bihar and Jharkhand continued the storm fury and flooded some parts with a copious downpour.
The remnant of cyclone Yaas is not yet over and done with and more heavy rains accompanied with strong winds are expected in the next 24-48 hours over Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal. Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Yaas crossed Odisha coast south of Balasore and moved northwest to reach last posts of the state yesterday.
Flight operations at Kolkata’s NSCBI airport will be suspended from 8.30 am to 7.45 pm today, while Bhubaneshwar’s Biju Patnaik International airport will remain shut till 5 am on Thursday.
