Direction. The driver in that sedan, a 22 year old man from san jose, died in that crash, according to witnesses that prior to the crash, the honda had entered the freeway and was traveling the wrong way. So it was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes just prior to the crash. The chp says the vehicles are cleared now, but theyre still cleaning up a fuel spill from the big rig. The hazmat crew wasnt expected to even get to the scene until now, and it has been rough on all roads all over the bay area. You can see red on google maps there in certain parts of the freeways throughout the east bay and other parts of the bay area, san jose isnt looking quite as bad, though, as it was an hour ago. Same on either side of the caldecott tunnel. Triple a says were still in the worst window for driving tonight until 7 00, according to its forecast. After 8 p. M. Is the best time to drive. If you can get to your memorial destination late. Be safe everyone. Indeed. Thanks so much. New at six

An early friday evening on lake merritt. Its cold and breezy, but its nothing to stop the locals. Ive lived in the area for about 13 years, and all the cool stuff that happens in east bay kind of happens around here, but i do see its always popping over here on the weekends. They look upon lake merritt with joy, and its probably going to be popping again this weekend. On saturday, lake merritt will be the home of an afternoon concert. Its called love lake merritt. We could see things changing and becoming better, but perception is hard to fight. Kimberly miller is the executive director of fairyland at lake merritt. She is one of several organizing the event where the focus is to bring as many people to the lake as possible. Weve had a tough year here in oakland, but were all about positive vibes and we want to bring art and culture, which is what oakland is known for down to the lake. From music to visual art to dance, to make sure to remind oaklanders what its all about. We see the w

Rig and a honda sedan going the wrong direction, according to witnesses. Just prior to the crash, the chp says the vehicles are cleared now, but theyre still cleaning up a fuel spill from the big rig. They say the southbound lane closures will last for several hours. Lets take another live look at the bay bridge toll plaza, where traffic, as you see , is just crawling along very slowly. We can also see red on google maps from the bay bridge backing up onto 580 and 880. We still have that live look there though, where you see it is just a parking lot at this moment. The drive up to the caldecott tunnel is looking rough too, and with so many people heading out over the holidays, so chp is going to be out there making sure that everybody is safe with their maximum enforcement period and yeah, its recommended everyone drive safe and a lot thems

Of backing down. We have to do everything we can, given that relative, you know, privilege to be out here and to really push as hard as we can. While demonstrations have turned violent at College Campuses around the country, this week here at cal, the Uc Berkeley Divest Coalition has led a peaceful protest. Students are taking turns camping out, and theyve grown from about a dozen tents on monday to more than 70 by friday. We have three kind of sleeping pads here, undergrad cecilia luna parra shows us around the tent shes sharing with five fellow bears. She was just elected to Berkeley City Council last week. Our tuition dollars are currently going to corporations that are aiding this genocide. Protesters are calling for the uc to divest from those companies to end its silence on gaza, to cut ties with israeli universities and to protect students organizing in support of palestine. Supporters are lending their own creativity to the cause, with this chalk artist sketching a bird onto th

Of the house and senate. On the right, youve got live picture of the house floor, where one hour ago, members rejected the shortterm funding bill, 232 to 198. That bill would have kept the government running through october 31st, but the Freedom Caucus, a band of breakaway conservative republicans led by matt gaetz of florida insisted they would block it. On the senate floor you see Chuck Schumer of new york. A couple things happening, talking the state of new york which declared a state of emergency due to extreme flooding. There are a whole bunch of issues that are very lifethreatening. Hes talking about that and the Senate Bipartisan bill that they would love to see the house tackle. It is not going to happen. As the government careens toward a shut down, the picture of the Dow Jones Industrials, the blue chips have seen again of 227 points but as soon as the failure of the vote on the house floor came through, a big drop, went to the lows of the session.
