Worcester Hadwen Park boardwalk renovations unveiled

WORCESTER – Working to bridge the gap between outdoor recreation and open space, the city Department of Public Works and Parks on Wednesday unveiled improvements to the Hadwen Park boardwalk. Mayor Joseph M. Petty said the construction of a boardwalk at Curtis Pond is part of the city’s commitment to renovating a section of the Tetasset Hills Trail network, which encompasses Hadwen Park. “The boardwalk we started here is fully accessible,” Petty said. “It will extend around the perimeter of the pond, connect at certain points. Work will include making the Knox Street walkway fully accessible.” Robert C. Antonelli Jr., head of the Parks Division, gave an overview of the boardwalk project, which overlooks Curtis Pond while still being shaded by the rolling terrains of trees.
