Cannabis dealer arranged sales over Facebook Messenger

By Advertiser Reporter A CANNABIS dealer arranged his illegal sales over Facebook Messenger. Detectives found social media messages on Michael Koutsou’s cracked iPhone as well as a mobile – complete with a peach-adorned cover – thought to belong to his girlfriend. But 28-year-old Koutsou was spared an immediate prison sentence yesterday after a Salisbury judge noted he’d remained out of trouble and there had been significant delay in the matters reaching the court. Prosecutor Lucy Conroy told Salisbury Crown Court on Friday that police raided Koutsou’s home in Moyne Close, Devizes, on September 18, 2019. In total, they found more than 140g of cannabis divided between glass Kilner-style jars and plastic deal bags. The drugs were estimated by a police expert to be worth up to £1,420 on the street.

Suspended sentence after assaults on police officers in Pinehurst

By Advertiser Reporter A DRIVER assaulted police officers after a routine traffic stop in Pinehurst. Marcus Palmer, 41, who was stopped in July last year two months after the death of George Floyd while in police custody in the US, claimed the officers were motivated by his skin colour. But that allegation was rejected by Recorder James Bromige at Swindon Crown Court this week, who said the officers were not influenced by race. Fining him £150 and imposing a three month prison sentence suspended for a year-and-a-half, the judge said: “In my judgement you were spoiling for a fight. It is fortunate your anger did not cause more harm, but certainly your intention was clear as evidenced by the measures the police had to use to bring you under control.”
