Hamden Crime Prevention forum creating more transparency with the public Hamden has started up a number of new block watches to expand their coverage through help from residents. Author: Dave Puglisi Updated: 10:25 PM EST January 27, 2021 HAMDEN, Conn  A recent spike in crime has Hamden taking preventive measures. Mayor Curt Leng says crime numbers aren t up everywhere but they are up in more categories than they would like.  In an effort to lower these numbers and increase transparency the town held a Crime Prevention and Community Resolutions Panel discussion to inform the public and increase transparency.   Some people are afraid to come outside. Some people are afraid to go grocery shopping, said Kim Washington of Mothers Demand Action.

Mayor Curt Leng said Monday he was “disappointed” to learn the trampoline park appeared to have violated sector rules. “We’re at a time right now where it’s essential for everyone in the community, including the business community, to really do their part in helping us to combat this pandemic head-on,” he said. “We’re not out of the woods yet by any means and really need to be more vigilant than ever while we make sure that the population gets vaccinated.”

The cuts were based on the claim that Hamden for years had paid higher cost of living adjustments than the retirement plan dictated. The town has also has considered further cuts to recoup millions of dollars of alleged overpayments, though Mayor Curt Leng said the Hamden Employees Retirement Board has not made a decision on the matter.

Snow in Connecticut: Live updates, hour-by-hour

Connecticut saw more than a foot of snow in some areas overnight Wednesday into Thursday as a nor’easter slammed the region. Gov. Ned Lamont said Thursday morning, depending on what part of the state you live in, about 8 to 14 inches fell across Connecticut. By noon the snow had ended across Connecticut. Connecticut officials have asked residents to remain off the roads as crews continue to work on clearing the snow that has fallen and is being blown around by gusty winds. Here’s the latest information on the storm: Dec. 17 UPDATE 6:17 P.M. Westport Superintendent Thomas Scarice announced schools would operate in a remote model on Friday as clearing efforts continued throughout town. He said school officials have been informed that refreezing of town roads and parking lot surfaces may lead to unsafe conditions in the morning.
