Ellen Fogle, a sixth-grade teacher at Inman Intermediate School, was named the 2021 Teacher of the Year for Nixa Public Schools.
The surprise announcement was made on Facebook early Monday. Fogle was honored along with three finalists: Rachel Claunch, Jason Foster and Mandy Patton.
Typically, Nixa s top teacher is announced at a spring gala. The district did not schedule that event this year due to the pandemic.
Fogle, a 2011 graduate of Parkview High School, has taught in Nixa since August 2016, teaching fifth grade at Inman before moving to sixth grade in 2019. I love them. They re awkward. They re figuring themselves. They still love you as their teacher, you know, they are not too cool, she said, in the video posted on Facebook. They re not afraid to challenge you either.
