Volunteer leaders of North Platte s World War II Canteen received a U.S. War Department Meritorious Service Award citation in a nationwide Sunday morning NBC Radio broadcast on Dec. 19, 1943.
The third annual Canteen Festival took over downtown Saturday and continues Sunday. Vendors and musicians descended on the historic Canteen District to provide entertainment for guests.
