Bradford on Avon Rotary Club donates £2,000 to Bath Cancer Unit Support Group

Generous members of the Bradford on Avon Rotary Club have donated £2,000 to the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group and have pledged thousands more. Last year’s Rotary club president, Steve Adams, nominated the BCUSG, which funds vital medical equipment for the cancer unit at Bath’s Royal United Hospital, as his charity for the year. The donation, which was unanimously approved by members, was raised despite a challenging year. Because of the lack of fundraising events during the pandemic, many local Rotarians donated their weekly meal costs - which they would have spent if meeting in person - to the club’s charity account.

CORSHAM magician Chris Hiscock is hoping to impress a television show with his trickery. He s auditioned for the ITV entertainment show Britain s Got Talent and is hoping to hear soon whether he s been successful. Chris, 33, of Coulston Road, Corsham, said: I m fairly hopeful. This could really change things for me. I want to become a professional performer, doing magic shows throughout the country. Mr Hiscock is a bar and restaurant manager at Cumberwell Park Golf Club at Bradford on Avon. He runs Chris of Club Magic and regularly entertained drinkers at the Gladstone Arms in Chippenham throughout December. He also takes bookings for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other special events.
