Cultured Meat Debuts at Singapore Restaurant After gaining regulatory approval for the sale of cultured meat in Singapore, Eat Just s cultivated chicken meat is ready for restaurants.
December 23rd, 2020
Last month, food technology company Eat Just made history when it received regulatory approval to sell cultured meat, real meat created from animal cells, from Singapore’s food agency. In a private tasting event over the weekend, guests experienced the restaurant debut of the brand’s cultured chicken.
The dining experience took place at 1880, a Singapore-based venue that was “founded to inspire conversations that change the world.”

Last weekend, a group of diners in Singapore were the first in the world to purchase a meal made with cell-based chicken after the country became the first to approve the sale of the food technology in November. The customers gathered at upscale restaurant 1880 in Singapore to sample a four-course meal that highlighted cell-based chicken (real meat grown from a small amount of animal cells without the need to slaughter a chicken) produced by California-based startup Eat Just. Among the first patrons to try Eat Just’s cell-based (also known as “cultured”) chicken were teens and pre-teens, an age group that has shown the biggest concern for creating a better planet.

The restaurant debut of GOOD Meat Cultured Chicken – real, high-quality meat created directly from animal cells for human consumption – followed Singapore s first-in-the-world regulatory approval for the product in November. The inaugural table of customers, which included a group of inspiring young people committed to building a better planet, paid the check on Saturday at 7:23 p.m. Singapore time. About 40 other patrons were set to partake over the course of the launch period.
